World Famous Pets Asheville Concert reviews
I am not a huge Rod or Stevie fan, but I went because my husband is a Rod fan. A 3 STAR rating is all I can give. It was a perfect night at the Bowl, with a warm, almost tropical breeze blowing most of the night. I did not have to put a jacket on until almost 10pm. The show started at 7:35pm with Stevie coming out first and opening with "Stand Back." She sang most of her hits plus 2 new songs and a few Fleetwood Mac songs. Her voice was strong and the stage, though minimal, was classy. She played for 1.5 hours. Rod came out after a brief intermission. His stage was great, with back-up singers and musicians in coordinating outfits. He was energetic and sang all of his hits, a crowd pleaser. Vocally, he was great when using the hard stand mic, but drowned out by the band with the hand-held mic. The blowing wind may have affected the sound quality. The lead guitar player was seen too much at the front of the stage for my liking. I could have done without the drum solo and the focus on the female brass players who were not the best I have ever seen. At one point, Rod left the stage and one of his back-up singers took over and sang lead vocals. I paid to see Rod headline, not a back-up singer. The biggest problem was the group of women and 1 man behind us who talked through the whole show or loudly yelled out.
